Chad describes his academic background as both challenging and rewarding. He has two undergraduate degrees, one in Business Administration, with a Co-operative Education Designation, from the University of Prince Edward Island and one in Education, from Queen's University.
During his time at UPEI, Chad decided to expand his knowledge in mathematics with elective courses in calculus, science and engineering. Chad was also employed by the university’s Department of Accessibility Services where he mentored and tutored students with a wide range of mental and physical disabilities. It was in this role that Chad realized his vocation.
Chad’s varied UPEI undergraduate experience later allowed him to excel in the Queen's University Teacher Education program. Upon graduation from teacher’s college, Chad obtained his Ontario Certified Teacher designation and completed additional qualification courses in Special Education and French as a Second Language.
Prior to his full-time teaching role at Astolot, Chad was a private tutor, and occasional teacher in the Western Quebec School Board. He also has experience as an Educational Assistant for the Limestone District School Board, and as a facilitator of grade 12 students during Life After High School - an innovative pilot program jointly funded by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities, and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Chad is a Mathematics, Learning Strategies, French, and Art teacher at Astolot. Throughout all of these courses, Chad shares with his students a message made famous by children’s author, Dr. Seuss: “You have brains in your head. / You have feet in your shoes. / You can steer yourself / any direction you choose.”
